7th + SANTA FE

Located in Los Angeles's thriving Arts District, 7th + Santa Fe was originally one of six identical factories built by the Ford Company to manufacture Ford Model T automobiles from 1913 to 1929.

The factory building is being developed and repurposed as creative office space while creating a new green paseo to provide outdoor lounging and greenery between the existing factory building and a newly added parking garage. Rockefeller Kempel Architects is returning the beautiful facade to its former glory by revealing the historic brick and displaying the original expanse of glass. Original mushroom-cap columns, among many other valuable architectural elements throughout the building, are being salvaged wherever possible to retain the identity of the building's history. The team is currently pursuing LEED Gold certification through the USGBC.
